Yesterday at 9.45am, the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to Once Brewed, a village in Northumberland, where a male had sustained neck and back injuries whilst working on a building site. The GNAAS aircrew worked alongside North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) paramedics to treat the 58-year-old for back and neck injuries. He was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle in a flight that took 14 minutes. He arrived in a stable condition.

Later, at 1.30pm, we were called to an incident in a remote area near Belford, Northumberland, where a woman had collapsed. The GNAAS doctor-led crew worked alongside NEAS paramedics to treat the woman, believed to be in her 40s, for medical injuries. She was given an anaesthetic to aid her in the flight to Newcastle RVI that took 18 minutes, this same journey would have taken around one hour by road. She arrived in a critical condition.
