At 6pm on Sunday, we were called to Washington, Tyne and Wear, where a male motorcyclist had collided with a car. The man had sustained suspected pelvic injuries and was treated by the GNAAS doctor-led aircrew on the roadside before being flown to hospital. He was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. The flight took five minutes and the man was stable on arrival.
Yesterday at 10.55am, we were called to the road between Dalston and Welton, near Carlisle, where there had been a two-car road traffic collision. Six people were in the two vehicles, although none were found to be as seriously injured as first feared. Working alongside North West Ambulance Service, GNAAS treated a 34-year-old woman for non-life threatening back and leg injuries. She was transferred to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle by road where she arrived in a stable condition.
