AIRBORNE life-savers are preparing to shed their flying suits for one night only as they host a fundraising black-tie ball.
The aircrew of the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) are hoping their annual Air Angels Ball will attract philanthropic individuals and businesses from across the North-East, Cumbria and North Yorkshire on Saturday June 4.
The event has raised more than £100,000 for the charity since 2011, and this year takes place at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead.
The ball will be hosted by the charity’s patron, ITV news anchor Pam Royle. Tickets are priced at £60 per person and include a reception drink and three course meal.
Live entertainment comes from Newcastle six-piece band, Grooveline, while students from St Cuthbert’s College in Durham will run a silent disco for those who prefer to dance to the beat of a different drum.
Guests will also be able to have a go in a Spitfire flight simulator provided for the event by Newcastle’s Flight Sim Centre.
GNAAS chief pilot, Jay Steward, said: “We’ve flown more than 800 missions over the past 12 months so we are ready to let our hair down for one night while raising some much-needed funds for the charity. We’d like to invite everyone to join us on what promises to be an unforgettable night.”
Ruth Davey, event organiser, said: “We are all very excited about this one. It’s a rare opportunity for individual and corporate supporters to unite in celebration with our life-saving crew and the people who have benefited from their care.”
Tickets can be bought individually or in tables of up to twelve people.
The event starts at 7pm and will run until 1am. The dress code is formal. To purchase tickets visit our shop here or call 01325-487263.
