A horse rider has been airlifted to hospital after falling from his horse. The 49-year-old man sustained suspected head injuries, despite wearing a helmet, after the fall at Sunbiggin, Orton, on January 2. The Great North Air Ambulance Service flew the patient to Royal Preston Hospital in 24 minutes where he arrived in a stable condition.
