A gingerbread model of Durham Cathedral will raise money for GNAAS and the British Heart Foundation.
Jenny Anderson baked the metre-long delicacy to display at Tealicious, on Elvet Bridge, where she is the assistant manager.
The piece took about five days to make and will be in the shop window until after Christmas.
Visitors are invited to guess how many sweets are on top of the model, to raise money for the two charities. The person whose guess is the closest will win afternoon tea for two at Tealicious.
Its creator said: “It’s nice to see people smiling as they walk past the window and if we can make some money for charity, that’s great.”
Mandy Drake said: “We want to say a huge thank you to Tealicious for their support. It is greatly appreciated.”
