A MAN and two-year-old child have been seriously hurt in a road crash in west Cumbria. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the A66 at Embleton, Cumbria, at 2:25pm yesterday (September 29) to reports of a collision involving a car and a lorry. A 22-year-old man who was trapped in the car suffered life-threatening injuries and the child also suffered serious injuries. GNAAS flew a doctor and paramedic to the scene and assessed the patients before requesting the assistance of a second air ambulance which flew from Manchester.

A 22-year-old man who was trapped in the car suffered life-threatening injuries and the child also suffered serious injuries.
GNAAS flew a doctor and paramedic to the scene and assessed the patients before requesting the assistance of a second air ambulance which flew from Manchester. The GNAAS doctor anaesthetised the man at the roadside before flying him to the RVI in Newcastle in a critical condition.
The child was also flown to hospital.
