A motorcyclist and a van collided at Eldon, Bishop Auckland, yesterday. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the scene at 6pm. The motorcyclist, a 56-year-old man, had come off his bike and sustained a serious lower leg injury.

The motorcyclist, a 56-year-old man, had come off his bike and sustained a serious lower leg injury. He was treated by the GNAAS team before being flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough in 11 minutes. He arrived in a stable condition.
