Two people have been airlifted after a crash on the A19. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the busy northbound carriageway, near Seaton, Seaham, at around 5pm, after two cars collided. Due to the seriousness of the incident, two of the GNAAS aircraft flew to the scene. The first patient, a male, had sustained serious head and chest injuries and was aneasthetised at the scene by the GNAAS doctor.

Due to the seriousness of the incident, two of the GNAAS aircraft flew to the scene.
The first patient, a male, had sustained serious head and chest injuries and was aneasthetised at the scene by the GNAAS doctor. He was then flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough in a critical condition.
The second patient, a female, had also suffered serious head and chest injuries. She was flown to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary in a serious condition.
